Tax Free Shopping in Italy: From February 1, the Minimum Spending Threshold Will Be Lowered
The reduction of the minimum spending threshold for Tax Free Shopping from the current €154.95 to €70.01 becomes official with the approval of the Budget Law by the Parliament on December 29, 2023. This decision is in line with other European countries that have lowered or even abolished this threshold in recent years.

The starting date for the new minimum spending limit has been set for February 1, 2024: from this date, all purchases made by non-EU residents with amounts of €70.01 or more will benefit from the Tax Free regime.
The Government has decided to invest in Tax Free Shopping, recognizing it’s an element of great attraction for international tourism, capable of improving the competitiveness of the Italian system and generating benefits for the entire tourism chain. This is also a conviction of Global Blue, which will not fail to provide its clients with the appropriate support to make the best use of this new opportunity.
